Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

1.  //  2.  //  3.  //  4.  //  5.  //  6.

1. Mac bruses- I am a huge fan of Mac brushes and usually wait to buy the sets during the holidays, but this deal is too good to pass up!

2. Clinique moisturizer- One of my favorite moisturizers!  I love how soft this makes my skin feel and does not leave my skin oily after I apply it.

3. Mac "Look in a Box"-  I am a huge fan of Mac lipsticks (more like a lipstick hoarder, lol).  This kit is such a steal and would also make a great gift- I think it would be a cute stocking stuffer!

4. Beauty Blender- I didn't immediately jump on the Beauty Blender bandwagon until I experimented with my cousin's Beauty Blender in LA.  It really is all that it is talked up to be and more.  I have oily skin, so any extra foundation residue will look cake-y and extra oily if I'm not careful, and I love how this sponge absorbs the excess and leaves my makeup looking fresh and well-blended.

5. Smashbox- This is the ultimate makeup palette.  This palette contains eight eye shadows, three blushes and a travel size mascara.

6. Anastasia Brow Studio Set- I ordered this set and love it!  I was a little hesitant at first since my eyebrows are so light, but I kept seeing so many positive reviews and decided to give it a try.  I was afraid that the pomade would be too dark for my skin, but it's just right- just remember, a little goes a long way!

1.  //  2.  //  3.  //  4.  //  5.  //  6.

1.  Sam Edelman pumps- I love these leopard heels.  I love the pointy toe and curved half silhouette for a more fierce, but sophisticated look.

2. Voluspa candles- I am a huge fan of Voluspa!  I normally buy them from Anthropologie, but this deal is way too good to pass up- you can get three for practically the price of one!  This set would also make for a wonderful gift.

3. Michael Kors Slim Runway watch- I have had my eye on this watch for the longest time!  I love Michael Kors watches because the quality is amazing and they go with everything!

4. Kate Spade iPhone case- This was one of my first #NSale purchases.  I love the gold polka dots!

5. Sam Edelman booties- These suede booties make me so excited for fall- I love the fringe!  I really want to order these...

6. Clarisonic- This is a must buy!  I have been using my Clarisonic for a little over a year now and can tell a huge difference in my skin.  I use mine each night to make sure I get all my makeup off and my skin always feels amazing after.

Happy Friday!!  Today, I am rounding up a few of my favorite things from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  As you know, the sale ends on August 2nd, so if you need to make any last minute purchases, now is the time! What are some of your favorites??

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend!

DRESS: c/o eShakti  //  SHOES: Steve Madden

Flamingos are all the rage right now and one of my personal favorite summer trends.  I absolutely love this little flamingo print jacquard dress via eShakti.  Not only is it super adorable and flattering, it is also affordable and will not break the bank.  I don't know about y'all, but I do not like spending a fortune on trends (think flamingos and pineapples), even though flamingos will always be in style.  Instead, I would rather spend more on solids and other classic timeless investment pieces.

This dress is perfect for summer barbecues, parties, showers and other gatherings.  I love the ladylike silhouette, especially the highneck collar and shoulder cutouts because it reminds me very much of something Jackie-O would wear, but with a more modern twist.  Also, I love, love, love the pockets!!  They are very subtle, but deep enough to completely hide my iPhone 6.  I'm sold!

By the way, best of luck to everyone sitting for the Bar Exam this week!!!!  See y'all on the other side!  ;-)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Friday, Friends!!  I hope you are having a great week!

I am so excited about today's post with Shabby Apple featuring the most perfect tulle skirt... ever!  I am so in love with this cream tulle bloom skirt from Shabby Apple's fall collection and love how fun and feminine it is. This tulle number totally reminds me of something Carrie Bradshaw would wear for a girls' night out in NYC.  In fact, since today is my birthday, I plan on channeling my inner Carrie and wearing it out on the town this evening with my girl friends here in Nashville!  I cannot think of a more perfect time to wear this fabulous skirt. There is something truly magical about tulle and you cannot help but to exude confidence and feel like a princess when you have it on.

Shabby Apple's fall collection is full of so many adorable and unique, one-of-a-kind dresses and skirts for work and play.  I want them all!  Haha.  Anyway, this tulle bloom skirt comes in several different pretty colors and lengths, but I especially love the ivory since it is so versatile and will look amazing year-round.  Plus, you can pair it with just about any color (or style) blouse, formal or informal.  I love it paired with this J. Crew chambray top for more of a casual look, but threw on pearls and strappy sandals to tie everything together for an effortlessly chic look.  I think it would even look cute with a girly tee shirt and chunky jewelry.  Whatever your style, this look is perfect day or night for any gal wanting to be bold and 'skirt the rules'!

I am also looking forward to wearing it during the holidays.  I think it will look so pretty with booties and tights (and snow outside!!).

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi, everyone!

In case you haven't noticed, I have been on a major shirt dress kick lately (more to come!), and this dress is by far one of my favorites and is on major sale.  This Ann Taylor breezy shirtdress is a must for summer!  It is incredibly comfortable and airy for 100 degree weather days, and I love the tassel belt to give it a more feminine silhouette.  Also, I love how it can be dressed up or down.  I dress it up with heels and a little extra jewelry when I go to work, but wore comfortable wedges and less jewelry for more casual vibes while exploring Chicago.  Speaking of Chicago, this is definitely the chicest shirt dress for any gal on the go to travel in style this summer!

Chicago Part II

Cloud Gate, a/k/a The Bean!

Buckingham Fountain
Enjoying paletas with my cousin and her friend at Taste of Chicago.  You never know who you will run into!
Navy Pier
"I'm on a boat!!"  Navy Pier architecture tour sailing around on Lake Michigan (post conference).  I see why Chicago is called the "Windy City"!
The most amazing tartar at Le Bouchon on Damen Avenue!
The Art Institute of Chicago is a MUST!  I spent four hours perusing around inside and did not even make it to one of the floors.  It is massive!  This was the perfect cold and rainy day activity.

Happy Friday!!

I am slowly returning back to my normal routine after being away in Chicago for a week.  I love traveling, but I always feel so overwhelmed coming back to reality and playing catch up.  Today's blog post is part two of my two-part Chicago series... Enjoy!

I tried to do a ton of touristy things specific to Chicago to absorb as much of the culture as possible.  I hit the ground running as soon as I got off the train and tried to cover as much territory as possible.  Might I suggest wearing comfortable walking shoes??  I walked around twelve miles the first day, so my 'Chuckies' (Converse) got a lot of wear the rest of the week.  Anyway, a few of my favorite tourist attractions were Sears/Willis Tower (go to the skydeck on the 103rd floor), Navy Pier, The Art Institute of Chicago, Grant Park, Millennium Park, Lincoln Park and The Bean.  Millennium Park and Grant Park usually had free concerts and events going on such as Taste of Chicago and it was so much fun to walk around and people watch.  And of course, as I mentioned in my last post, I loved the shopping on Michigan Avenue, State Street and The Magnificent Mile.
Tip: you can purchase tickets online to many of these attractions ahead of time and save a few bucks and skip out on the long lines- I highly recommend doing this as I waited close to an hour in line at Sears Tower.  Also, you could opt to get a City Pass for around $95.00 that includes several of these places and others such as Shedd Aquarium and the zoo, so definitely check that out.

We also ate at a lot of amazing restaurants.  Chicago cuisine is unlike any other!  As far as deep dish pizza goes, it doesn't get any better than Giordano's.  We loved it so much, we ate there twice- I am still drooling just thinking about it (just kidding, haha)!  Also, Le Bouchon on Damen Avenue is a must.  I highly, highly recommend going for dinner.  Everything was fabulous and the atmosphere was very Parisian-chic.  Be sure to go on a Tuesday night because they have a 3-course special (appetizer, meal and dessert) for $30.  Plus, I loved walking around on Damen Avenue.  There are so many cute local restaurants and shops.  It reminded me a lot of Nashville and Portland.  I also liked Grand Luxe Cafe, mostly though for the atmosphere.  The inside was really cool and I loved the floor to ceiling windows to look out on to Michigan Avenue.  They had fabulous red velvet cake!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend!  If you have been to Chicago, what are your favorite places??

Chicago

On the Skydeck (103rd floor) of Willis/Sears Tower!
Amazing views from the Skydeck!  The famous John Hancock building is in the middle back (tall black building).
Walking around Magnificent Mile.  Is that American flag beautiful, or what??
Conference happy hour time in the hotel.  We stayed at the Hilton on South Michigan and it was very nice!
Train selfie!
Divvy bikes- perfect for riding around downtown!
Charles Ray sculpture near the Art Institute
Giordano's is a must if you visit Chicago!  They had the best pizza- ever!!
Trump Tower

Hi, Friends!

I hope you are having a great week!  I had the most amazing week in Chicago with one of my best friends of sixteen years.  His company had a nationwide conference in Chicago and he invited me to tag along, so of course I said yes.  He has lived in Portland for the last five years, so I jump on any chance to get together.  He mostly worked and I mostly played.  I did a lot of touristy things during the day and at night, we hit the town.  We went all over the place and ate and shopped our way through the city.  :-)

Speaking of shopping, I love Chicago shopping!!  I loved walking up and down Michigan Avenue, State Street and the Magnificent Mile and stopping in all the shops.  I was so excited the first day that I ended up walking about twelve miles- only to gain it all back from all that Chicago pizza!  Lol!

I will post more pics later this week and share more of my favorite restaurants and places to explore.  I would also love to hear your fave places because I definitely plan on going back!
