Happy Monday!  Today I am sharing one of my favorite polka dot skirts to date.  I found this little gem while perusing around on Pinterest several years ago (when I should have been studying), and seriously love it.  As much as I love color, there is something so classic and timeless about black and white, and a pop of pink always makes an outfit more fun and feminine, in my opinion.  I love how incredibly versatile this skirt is.  Normally, I stick to a black, white and hot pink color combo, but sometimes I wear it with a chambray button down paired with a mustard yellow blazer or other solid colored tops, depending on my mood.  Here is another black and white polka dot skirt that I am currently loving- look at the pleated skirt panels!

What to Wear to Your 10-Year High School Reunion

I invented post-its

Happy Friday!!  In honor of my 10-year high school reunion this weekend, I decided to dedicate today's post to some high school reunion outfit inspiration.

High school reunions and the days and weeks leading up to them tend to be loaded with a mix of nostalgia, increased expectations and former anxieties.  Selecting the right outfit will make you feel more at ease, and give you the confidence to see your former classmates.

For inspiration, I watched "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion", the 1997 film co-starring Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino as they face the same dilemma and set out to prove to their classmates that they have really made it big in LA by "inventing post-its" (Haha!).  I won't spoil the movie for you, but the moral of the story is to be true to yourself and your original style, because overthinking your outfit will lead to unnecessary stress and disaster (so does creating elaborate lies about your career as they found out).  If you have not seen it, gather your friends together and watch it asap- it is a great movie and will make you fired up about your reunion!

Anyway, I have gathered some outfit inspiration in the mood boards below, and broke them down as follows: Little Black Dress, Evening Out and Outdoor.  Dressing for a reunion can be challenging for a number of reasons, but especially because it all depends on what time of day the reunion is, the venue, and whether it is indoor or outdoor.  My high school reunion is a bit of a challenge because we are beginning the festivities tailgating at our high school's fall festival in the afternoon (and it is still incredibly hot), then we are moving to an indoor venue for dinner and cocktails, so my outfit will probably be a combination of Outdoor for early afternoon, then I may add some additional accessories and strappy sandals for more of an Evening Out look.

Summer is officially over and today we "turn a new leaf" to welcome autumn.  Today, I am taking a look back at some of my favorite summer looks featured on the Lawyer Lookbook.  I sure will miss simple summer shirt dresses, flamingos and strappy sandals, but I am more than ready for sweater weather, pronounced "sweatah weathah" (I love this SNL Bronx Beat "sweatah weatha" skit, too funny).  Who's with me??

Lawyer Linkup

I am beyond thrilled to be linking up with some of my favorite lady lawyer bloggers for today's blog post to showcase some office wear for the fashionable lawyer.  Introducing (from left to right): Brittany from The Lady Lawyer, Leanne from LegalLee Blonde, Nina from Law of Fashion, and Tif from Bright on a Budget.  These ladies are beautiful inside and out and their blogs are absolutely amazing, so definitely check them out.  Below are the photos from the outfit I decided to wear for the link up:

I decided to wear this fabulous Charles Henry crepe shirt dress for today's linkup.  It is so pretty and colorful, and is the perfect dress for the modern young professional "working girl" that is always on-the-go.  If you have been following my Instagram and blog, you know that I am a firm believer in the fact that professional women of all ages can be both successful AND stylish, no matter what industry you are in, and we lady lawyers are no exception.  ;-)

I wear a lot of dresses on office days (a/k/a on days when I don't have to go to court), and this Charles Henry dress is by far one of my favorites.  It is very comfortable and flattering and transitions perfectly from office to out.  It is available in the pink and orange pattern that I am wearing, as well as a coral and lavender color scheme that is gorgeous.  I am thinking about ordering the coral and lavender dress as well since I wear this one all the time.  I even wore it this past Friday night to the Southern Blog Society Nashville Blogger event at the Kendra Scott Hill Center.  This dress is perfect for so many occasions, work or play and is very reasonably priced.

In other news, I broke down and got a Snapchat...  Some of my blogger friends got me up and rolling this weekend, and I am slowly beginning to get the hang of it and have been snapping away.  I told them that I have a law degree, but cannot figure out how to use Snapchat, and they immediately came to my rescue.  Haha!  If you are on Snapchat, my name is @lawyerlookbook, so feel free to add me!

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to stop visit Brittany, Leanne, Nina and Tif!

Happy Friday!!

As much as I love this time of year, it can be a little tricky getting dressed for work each morning- if you live in the South, you know what I'm talking about!  The day starts off nicely in the 50's, but then is back to the high 90's in the afternoon.  According to my calendar, fall does not officially start until September 23rd, so I am taking full advantage of a few more days of warmer weather and summer clothes before making the final transition to chunky sweaters and lots of layers.

I recently wore this outfit to a business luncheon and received a lot of compliments.  A floral skirt paired with a dressy white layering tee is perfect for this unpredictable weather in between seasons.  I plan to throw a navy blazer on over my white tee when fall does decide to stay, to look more season-appropriate and polished, but since it is still scorching out, no blazer.  By the way, I scored these shoes in mint green at the Cool Springs Banana Republic on major sale a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love them!

How do y'all dress for days with a 40-degree jump in temperature??  Tennessee weather is so unpredictable, and I have a feeling we still have several more weeks of this business of starting at 50 degrees, then ending at 90 (cue Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold").

Thanks so much for stopping by!

SHIRT: Nordstrom  |  BRACELET: Kendra Scott | GLASSES: c/o GlassesShop.com (all opinions are my own)

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a nice weekend!  I recently received my first pair of prescription eyeglasses from GlassesShop.com and it was love at first sight!

GlassesShop.com is an American owned and operated online retailer of eyeglasses that was created by a team of professional eye doctors in 2004 with a vision of providing high quality eyewear at affordable price points.  Since the website launched in 2004, GlassesShop.com has delivered over a million pairs of cheap glasses as well as prescription sunglasses worldwide.

I read a ton of paperwork with very small font and stare at a computer screen for hours on end on a daily basis, so prescription eyeglasses are a necessary part of my every day work routine.  I have worn the same basic black (but very chic) pair of prescription eyeglasses for the last several years, because let's face it, black is safe,  goes with everything, and let's be honest, most prescription frames are not cheap by the time you get your prescription lenses filled.  I am a huge fan of cat-eye glasses and could not wait to get my hands on these beauties, and now, I cannot stop wearing them!  They are so pretty and comfortable, and even more amazing in person.  am wearing the FortWilliam Cat Eye Glasses in Tortoise.  I love the tortoise print on the cat-eye frames for a very fun, yet modern and sophisticated take on the cat-eye trend, and I am very excited about wearing them this fall.

Ordering prescription eyeglasses online may seem a little nerve-wracking, but I am very impressed with the high quality craftsmanship and design and how well the frames fit my face.  Not to mention, I love how lightweight they are because my current black pair is heavy and really starts to bother me towards the end of the day.  This was my first time to order prescription lenses online, but my lenses matched my prescription perfectly.  All I had to do was submit my prescription info and my prescription lenses were spot-on.

I definitely recommend GlassesShop.com for your eyewear needs.  GlassesShop.com has so many classic and stylish options at very affordable price points and will work with you to get your prescription just right.  GlassesShop.com just launched their First Pair of Glasses Free campaign, which means all new customers can order a pair of free glasses (except shipping and handling). Also, GlassesShop.com is kind enough to give all Lawyer Lookbook readers 50% off on eyeglasses and sunglasses with free lenses (sale frames excluded) with coupon code "GSHOT50".  That is an awesome deal!
