J. Crew Lady Jacket in Double Serge Wool

BLAZER: J. Crew (similar) | SHIRT: Asos (similar) | SKIRT: Banana Republic | BAG: Coach | SHOES: Ivanka Trump | SUNNIES: Nordstrom

Happy Friday!  Since I am a Tennessee gal, I love myself the occasional orange blazer.  I found this J. Crew Lady Jacket in Double Serge Wool last year, and always feel so fancy when I wear it.  I love the delicate detailing, especially the bold gold buttons and navy stripes down the back.  Not to mention, it is the perfect blazer to wear on Halloween Eve!  To top it off, this Asos white bow blouse was the perfect feminine touch to this classic and preppy look.

I hope y'all have a happy Halloween!!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

P.S.  The BaubleBar Courtney Bib is now only $25 (while supplies last), regularly $68!  Treat yourself for Halloween and order yourself one!  It comes in four colors and I just ordered this gold one for $25 (no tax or shipping)!

Good morning, I hope you had an amazing weekend!  This J. Crew Factory plaid tartan skirt has been a fall staple for me over the last couple of years and it is finally back in stock (and on sale!).  It always plays an essential role in my fall/winter wardrobe because of the pretty plaid print and incredible versatility.  It looks nice with basic button-downs or cozy turtlenecks in a wide array of colors.  Since the colors in this plaid skirt are on the darker side, I opted for a brighter shirt to shake things up a bit.  This skirt also looks very classy with a navy blazer.  I wore this outfit to work recently and threw a navy blazer on over my pink wool turtleneck and it looked so pretty!

As a side note, I love J. Crew's wool turtlenecks for this time of year and pair them with work and weekend outfits.  With that being said, do not stick your turtleneck in the dryer... I learned that lesson the hard way and mine shrank quite a bit and is very snug.  I blame my mistake on Bruiser (my little rescue Jack Russell/Chihuahua), lol.. he is always distracting me and getting right in the middle of whatever I'm doing!

Happy Friday!!  One of my favorite things about making the transition to fall is wearing faux fur vests.  Now that cooler months are upon us, a good faux fur vest is a must.  I love this mid-length Chicwish faux fur vest in brown to stay warm and chic in chilly temperatures.  It is incredibly comfortable and goes with everything, whether you stick to all black as I did here, or, you could also pair it with solids, stripes or other pretty patterns.  Also, the length is great to wear with leggings or a tunic.  I plan on wearing it a lot a lot this fall and winter!

Lashes By Shala

Eyelash extensions: c/o Shala Williams (*all opinions are my own)

A couple of months ago, Shala Williams, Licensed Aesthetician and Certified Lash Artist,  contacted me about trying eyelash extensions.  I loved them the first time (read about my first full experience here), but I love them even more the second go-round.

I love how full and natural my lashes look, thanks to Shala.  My favorite thing about eyelash extensions?  Not having to wear mascara!  This is a huge time-saver for me each morning, and I love waking up feeling fabulously with full lashes!  My second favorite thing?  Not having to remove eye makeup each night!  In fact, I have not worn any eye makeup since she applied the extensions about three weeks ago, and they last up to four weeks (a/k/a one more week of no eye makeup!).  You may recall from my last post where I was a little hesitant about trying them due to my job (and very fair skin), but Shala worked with me each time to find a set that fits my skin tone and my lifestyle, and will do the same for you.

Shala is running a special right now for Lawyer Lookbook readers for a full set of extensions for $120 (regularly $220).  Trust me, lash extensions are worth the investment!  For more information or to book your appointment, you can go to her website at www.styleseat.com/shalawilliams, contact her via email (williams.shala@yahoo.com) or, by phone at (615) 349-5633.  Also, you can see more of her work by following her on Instagram @beautybyshala.

Good morning, I hope you had an amazing weekend!  Teal has always been one of my favorite colors to wear, especially for the fall and winter months.  I bought this skirt from J. Crew Factory last year, and knew it would be the perfect pop of color for my fall/winter wardrobe.  It is one of the most comfortable pencil skirts I own, and I love the double-serge wool fabric to keep me warm in winter months.  I love this particular pencil skirt so much that I have it in this porcelain green hue, as well as hunter green, burgundy, khaki and black, each of which I have purchased on sale over the years.  Speaking of sale, this pencil skirt in double-serge wool is only $44.50, which is an absolute steal for the amazing quality and amount of wear I have gotten out of it!

Happy Friday!  Since today is Friday, I am keeping my outfit casual in jeans, booties and a cozy sweater for a laid-back look to ease into the weekend.  I love layering and mixing different prints and textures in the fall.  This sweater looks great by itself for a very casual and cozy look, or, with a crisp button-down underneath to give it more dressed up feel.  I added the blazer in the above photos to make it look more polished and office-appropriate.

What are y'all getting into this weekend?  I hope you have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Five Essential Bags Every Woman Should Own

fashion blog for young professionals
Items as seen above: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Whether you carry a tote, wallet, backpack or clutch, there are five essential handbags that all women should own.  When building your handbag collection, be sure to include these five essential bags:

1. Tote
A truly versatile bag, a tote can serve as your computer and carry-all bag during the week.  Look for one with durable straps and reinforced handles so that it can carry heavier loads.  I love this Tory Burch York Tote in blush as my every day go-to work tote bag.  I love how it is divided into three compartments, so I am less likely to lose my belongings (does anyone else lose keys in the bottom of their bag every day??).  Also, when looking for a tote, stick to neutral colors so you can wear it with anything.

2. Crossbody
A crossbody can serve as both a dressy daytime bag, as well as an evening out bag.  I love this Rebecca Minkoff Mini M.A.C. crossbody in biscuit.  The Mini M.A.C. is great for running around town and is the perfect size for your basic necessities such as your wallet, keys, phone and lipstick.  Also, I love the metal hardware for a more edgy and sophisticated look.

3. Work Bag
A structured leather work bag is an essential if you are always on the go and carry around files and other work-related items day in and day out.  I love this Ivanka Trump Hopwell Work Tote in black.  I am a huge fan of all things Ivanka Trump and love the quality of her shoes and bags.  The interior of this bag is very spacious with more than enough room for daytime essentials and the exterior is very poised and professional.  Again, I would stick to a neutral color so you can wear it with everything.

4. Travel Bag
Work hard, play harder.  A durable travel bag is a worthwhile investment because you never know where work or life will take you.  I have had my eye on this LL Bean Somerset Weekender for some time now because I think it would make for a great overnight or weekend getaway bag, and it is on sale right now.  I love the quality craftsmanship, classic color block, and the adorable belted buckle.  You will definitely be traveling in style with this bag.

5. Clutch
A lady-like clutch that can take you from office to (evening) out is an essential bag for working gals.  I love this chic and timeless Clare V. Leopard-Print Fold-Over Clutch for brunch or special occasions.  Leopard is a neutral, and this bag is very versatile and looks great with all colors, casual or dressed up.  As a side note, I am a huge fan of the fact that these bags are made locally in L.A. with conscious consumerism at the forefront, which makes this handbag splurge worth it in my opinion!

Good morning!  I am tickled pink for today's blog post celebrating Lawyer Lookbook's first "blogiversary"!   I started my blog one year ago as a creative outlet to share my ideas and to inspire other professional women that we can be both successful and stylish, that these two ideas can coexist together in perfect harmony, and are not mutually exclusive.  I have learned so much over the last year and have absolutely loved connecting and collaborating with fellow bloggers, brands, and of course, readers.

I wanted this photoshoot to reflect me*, so my hot pink Kate Spade flared dress with pearls was a no-brainer.  I found it at the Kate Spade Outlet in Las Vegas last year shortly after I started my blog.  It is 1.5 sizes too big, but it was the last pink dress and was on sale for $150 (marked down from $450.00).  Sold!  In case you are wondering, we took these photos at the Parthenon because that is one of my favorite places in Nashville, especially at night.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and leaving kind comments!  I cannot wait to see what year 2 of blogging has in store!

*Hurricane Joaquin had other intentions in mind and it rained right before we shot these photos and gave us major wind gusts the entire time, so my hair got wet and windblown (a/k/a I'm not having the best hair day!), but we survived!
