Denim Guide

There are three things I do not particularly like shopping for: swimsuits, sneakers, and jeans.  Shopping for jeans can be so stressful for a wide array of reasons.  Sizing is different for each line, making trying different brands and styles on a headache (not to mention, time consuming!), different styles look better on different body types and sometimes it can be tricky to find the right style for you, or, in my case, most denim runs long and I end up having to get 99% of my jeans hemmed.   I recently decided to bite the bullet and tried on a ton of different styles and found quite a few that I actually liked- and fit! So, for today's post, I am highlighting some of my favorite tried and true cuts and styles, hopefully to make shopping for your next pair of jeans easier and perhaps enjoyable.

1. Skinny Jeans
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 (only $29.40)

I love a good pair of skinny jeans for a night out or to tuck in to boots for fall/winter.  I recently tried on these AG jeans and loved how they fit.  These are very comfortable and stretchy, but the material holds its shape.  I also love these dark skinny jeans from Asos.  I love the deep indigo color and the cigarette fit.

2. Bootcut Jeans
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

You can't go wrong with classic bootcut jeans.  I love this pair of Joe's Jeans for casual Fridays at the office. They are the most comfortable jeans I have ever worn and look very polished.  They are on sale now and I will probably order another pair because I love mine so much.

3. White Jeans
1 ($54) | 2 | 3 ($48) | 4 | 5

I love white jeans for spring and summer.  As you can see from the above photos, white jeans are very versatile and can be dressed up or down.  Plus, white jeans are perfect for vacationing since they are more lightweight than darker denim.  I ordered this pair from Nordstrom to take to Paris and love them.  It has been years since I have worn white jeans, but since they were only $54, I decided to give them a try!

4. Black Jeans
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

A good pair of black denim can go a long way.  Whether they be for a casual office day or a night out with girlfriends, you cannot go wrong with black jeans.  As an added bonus, black denim has a slimming effect and is flattering on all shapes and sizes.

5. Flared Jeans
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

I am so glad that flared jeans are in season (although, they are always on point in my book!).  I love a good bell bottom and chunky heel.  I love these Express high-waisted bell flare jeans.  Express is running a major special right now, where you can buy one pair of jeans and get the second pair for $29.90, which is a great way to try another style of jeans for a great price.

6. Ripped Jeans
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Ripped jeans have taken over my Instagram feed and after trying on some of these jeans, I can see why.  Ripped jeans are great for the weekend, whether you are running errands during the day or going to a concert at night, they transition perfectly and make you feel fierce!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  What is your favorite style?

  2. I feel you on the jean shopping difficulty! I recently needed some and spent an angry weekend buying 3 pairs, only to realize I was bloated and PMSy so they don't even actually fit (face palm). Def going to look into some of these styles (especially the third white pair-perf for spring!)

    Thanks to sharing!
