Best Dry Shampoo

Best Dry Shampoo
1 | 2 | 3 | 4

Over the past year, I have really tried to cut back on the amount of times I wash and dry my hair each week.  I have been on a mission to find the best dry shampoo, and have found a couple that I love.  I used to wash my hair every single morning, but that is not healthy for you hair, at all.  I noticed I lost a lot of hair each time I washed it, and decided that I could not continue to let my hair thin out.  Instead, I use dry shampoo on mornings I don't wash my hair, and it has made a world of difference.  Not only do I have more time in the mornings (when I don't wash, dry, and curl my hair), but I feel much better knowing that I'm not applying a bunch of heat and products to my hair and causing it to break and thin out.  Sometimes, it's nice to give your hair a break.  Having blonde hair makes it a little harder to reduce the amount of times I wash it each week because you can tell if it gets oily.  Plus, not to mention, I use quite a few curling products to make it curly (see my favorites here).
This is my favorite shampoo at the moment.

So, for example, I might wash my hair on a Sunday night and sleep in a hair turbie (I use this one), dry/curl it Monday morning, use dry shampoo Tuesday morning and spray my hair with hair spray, then wash it Tuesday night.  Depending on how humid it is, I may can get away with not washing it Wednesday morning (and instead using dry shampoo), but usually I have to go ahead and repeat the entire process due to all the hair products.

Some of my friends with dark hair can get by with only washing their hair once a week!  I definitely can't do that, but thanks to some of these products, I can at least cut back on the amount of times I wash and dry my hair a few times each week, which will ultimately make it stronger and more healthy in the long run.
Without further adieu, here are a few of the dry shampoos I have tried:

Ouai: This is my favorite dry shampoo that I have used thus far!!  It is a bit pricey, but well worth the investment.  A little dry shampoo goes a long way, and Ouai does a great job absorbing all the oil and residue.  It is also very light, and will not weigh your hair down.  I highly, highly recommend Ouai, and definitely want to try some of their other hair products.

Moroccan oil:  I have used Moroccanoil hair products for years.  I love the hair serum and apply it to my hair right after I wash it.  This is an amazing dry shampoo.  It is so easy to use and smells wonderful.  I have been able to go 2 full days without washing my hair with this dry shampoo, which is a major time and life-saver! I definitely recommend Moroccanoil.

Batiste: You really get your bang for your buck with Batiste.  This dry shampoo is amazing.  Also, it is very affordable.  Batiste is very popular with bloggers and I have only heard great things about it.  I plan on ordering more and taking some to Italy in September!

Kevin Murphy:  I received a free bottle of this dry shampoo at a blogger event and was not over-the-moon excited about it.  It is still a good dry shampoo and it could be that it works better on different hair types, but I had to use quite a bit and felt like it weighed my hair down at times.

Living Proof: This is an ok dry shampoo, in my opinion.  It has been a while since I have used it, but I remember not being totally blown away by it.  I would give it another shot since my hair has changed since I last used it.  From what I recall, my hair felt stiff and it left behind a sticky residue.

In case you missed it, my curly hair tutorial along with the exact hair products I use- how to curl your hair in less than 30 minutes.

Do you have a favorite dry shampoo??  I am dying to try this Drybar dry shampoo next!

I hope you had a happy Mother's Day this weekend!  My cousin graduated from high school Saturday morning. Between her graduation and Mother's Day festivities, we have been celebrating with family all weekend long. We had a few moments in between celebrations to snap these blog photos on the square in downtown Murfreesboro. If you are ever in the Middle Tennessee area, you should definitely check it out!  It is such a cute little area, and I love all of the old buildings.  Plus, there are so many cute boutiques and some great local restaurants nearby.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Congrats to all the graduates!

1. Tools of Titans: The Tactics, Routines, and Habits of Billionaires, Icons, and World-Class Performers, Tim Ferriss

Tools of Titans: The Tactics, Routines, and Habits of Billionaires, Icons, and World-Class Performers, Tim Ferriss

Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss is an excellent book full of very valuable information from many well-known greats, such as Tony Robbins.  It is over 600 pages long, so it definitely takes some time, but it is totally worth it. The book is divided into three sections: healthy, wealthy and wise.  It is part business, part philosophy and part story.  Ferriss distills some of the most valuable lessons he has learned in his own career, as well as from interviewing many successful people on his podcast from all industries and walks of life.  This would make a great graduation gift!

2. Leaders Eat Last: Why Some Teams Pull Together and Others Don't, Simon Sinek
Leaders Eat Last: Why Some Teams Pull Together and Others Don't, Simon Sinek

Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek is a great book for anyone in a leadership or management position.  Sinek argues over and over again that people don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it.  He is obsessed with the why of things, as well as how to inspire others to get on board with your ideas.  He cites a lot of great relevant real-life case studies of various organizations building cultures to support their employees to trust leaders and be more motivated.  He also has an excellent TED Talk you should go watch asap!

Good morning!  In case you missed it, I wore this floral skirt a couple of posts back with a sheer black chiffon top and lots of pink accents (check it out here).  For today's post, I wanted to mix in some different patterns and a structured navy blazer for texture and an overall more polished look.  I love mixing floral and stripes, and of course, leopard goes with everything!

Happy Monday!  Mother's Day is this Sunday!  If you need some last minute gift ideas, look no further.  Each of these items would be perfect for mom and they are all budget-friendly.  If she is a total boss lady like my mom this bag (#5) would be perfect.  It is totally compartmentalized and has a specific place for a laptop or tablet, keys, mug, and cell phone.  Of course, my mom also loves makeup and relaxing in style at the end of the day, so, this palette and these classic pjs would also be perfect.  Decisions, decisions.  What are you getting your mom??
