Opry Mills Annual Bag Sale

Brought to you by Opry Mills, a Simon Center.
Opry Mills Bag Sale
Happy Monday!!  I am SO excited to collaborate once again with Opry Mills in Nashville for today's blog post to tell you about The Annual Handbag Sale going on now through June 30th.  There are so many amazing bag deals happening now with so many amazing retailers.  There is definitely something for every "purse-onality" whether you like classic-glam, modern chic, or, consider yourself more boho or edgy, or, if you love athleisure, you are sure to find your next perfect bag at a bargain price.  Today, I will feature four trends that really stood out to me at the sale: tote, cross-body, satchel and mini.

Trend: Tote
Michael Kors Tote Bag
This Michael Kors Tote bag was originally $458 before the sale.  During the handbag sale, all Michael bags are 60% off, plus, this tote is an additional 20% off so it comes to $140!!  Jackpot!!  I have several Michael Kors bags and love them!

I love a classic tote, and this classic Michael Kors tote comes in so many gorgeous colors.  I especially love the blush pink tote as well as the gold tote, because they are so chic and versatile.  I love the gold, blush or blue shades for work, because they are so pretty and polished, but, the brown and cream classic logo totes would make the perfect work or weekend getaway tote bag.  Either way, you can't go wrong with Michael Kors!

Vera Bradley Work Tote
Before the handbag sale this Vera Bradley Work Tote cost $108.  During the sale it is 50% off, making it $54.

Who doesn't love Vera Bradley??  I love the fun and colorful prints and patterns Vera Bradley has to offer, whether it be in the form of a wallet, iPad cover, travel bag, backpack, or, more sophisticated bags for the working gal, Vera does not disappoint!  I saw so many cute bags that I wanted to take home, but this black work tote really caught my eye as a working woman who is always on the go.  I love the quilted black exterior with the pocket on the outside (does anyone else constantly lose their phone and keys??), and how the inside is compartmentalized so that you can keep your belongings organized throughout the day.  This would be the perfect tote bag to carry your laptop and work items during the day, but you could easily throw some workout clothes and sneakers for a post-work workout without having to haul multiple bags around all day and feel like a "bag lady".  Believe me, there is plenty of room for your 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. belongings!

Trend: Cross-Body

This Andrew Mark cross-body at Wilson's Leather was originally $60.  After the 50% off sale this bag is $29.99.

Wilson's Leather has so many amazing finds, and I loved this Andrew Mark cream cross-body bag.  This cross-body is perfect for weekend adventures, or, when you want to be a little more casual.  I would carry it to weekend brunch and the Farmer's Market, then an evening concert at Ascend Amphitheater.  I love how compact (yet spacious) it is for all the essentials, while still allowing me to be hands-free and in the moment.

Trend: Satchel
Before the handbag sale, this Kate Spade satchel cost $400.  After the sale it only cost $119.

This Kate Spade New York satchel was love at first sight.  I love anything blush pink and Kate Spade.  For me, this bag is a  match made in (fashion) heaven.  As an attorney, elected official, and director of a governmental department, I am constantly in and out of meetings and always on the move.  I am always looking for fashionable and functional bags I can carry around all day, without sacrificing my personal style.  I love the blush pink shade (obviously), and the fact that it is very sturdy and will hold my MacBook Pro, among other things.  I also love how the sides flare out for a modern twist.  Of course, the tassel sealed the deal!

Trend: Mini
This Michael Kors mini originally cost $228.  After the 60% off sale it dropped all the way down to $91.

Big things come in small packages, and this Michael Kors gold mini bag absolutely proves this to be true.  I love this glam gold mini Michael Kors bag.  It comes in several colors such as gold, black, brown and yellow.  I would wear the above gold bag for a more dressy event, such as a night at the Symphony or a fancy dinner.  I also think the gold would look so pretty for the holidays and New Years Eve.  The other colors could be dressed up or down and would be perfect for a night on the town with girlfriends.

So, what is my "purse-onality" and which bag did I end up taking home??

Trend: #ThePerfectBag
Ann Taylor Ruffle Sleeve Mock Neck Sweater
Modern chic all the way.  I cannot wait to carry my new Kate Spade New York satchel and go to work in style.

Blush pink, sheath, and sleeveless, this mock-neck embellished sheath dress is my absolute favorite summer work dress this season.  I love the non-wrinkle fabric and fitted silhouette, and did I mention, it's blush pink?  ;-) If I have an important work meeting and need to look more formal, I may pair it with a blazer (navy looks so pretty with the blush pink).  Usually, however, I go sans blazer so that I don't hide the pretty embellishments. As an added bonus, this dress is perfect for transitioning from office to out-of-office to happy hour or other professional networking/fun social events.

Wearing white is no longer only for formal events such as bridal showers.  These white dresses prove that you can make your white pieces work at the office, while still looking and feeling like a total #girlboss.  Depending on how conservative your office is, you could wear several of these dresses as-is.  If sleeveless is not an option at your office, however, you could just as easily throw on a pretty blazer and/or scarf (in any color!) and still rock your white dress, all the while still being office-appropriate.  I personally am loving all the eyelet, pleats, ruffles and silhouettes these dresses have to offer, and definitely want to add them to my wardrobe!

Classic Women's Workwear Pieces

Lawyer-Fashion-Blog
Watch | Button-down | Shoes | Necklace | Blazer | Lipstick | Tote | Skirt

Good morning!  I have rounded up a few of my favorite classic workwear pieces for today's post.  As you can see, these items are timeless, high-quality investment pieces, many of which can be dressed up or down and be taken from office to (evening) out.

To begin, every working woman needs a classic white button-down.  I have tried my fair share of button-downs, but this Banana Republic fitted, non-iron button-down is hands-down my favorite.  I love the tailored fit, and did I mention, you don't have to iron it??  It comes out of the dryer sans wrinkles and ready to wear.  I have been very impressed with Banana Republic's wear-to-work collection this season, and have quite a few pieces in my closet. These pieces are amazing quality and go on sale pretty regularly.  Exhibit A: my favorite basic black pencil skirt to wear with suits and/or blouses is on major sale right now.  I love this skirt and wear it all the time.  I also have it in navy.  As far as blazers are concerned, I love this blazer because of its tailored fit.  There is nothing worse than a boxy blazer!

As far as heels are concerned, I am convinced that this pump is hands-down the best heel for work.  I love this heel as my every day go-to heel and have it in six colors.  I usually alternate between black and nude for the office and court. These shoes are so comfortable and will not break the bank.   I cannot recommend them enough!

Finally, I love this Tory Burch York Tote in blush as my every day go-to work tote bag.  A truly versatile bag, a tote can serve as your computer and carry-all bag during the week.  I love how this tote is divided into three compartments so that I can stay organized and am less likely to lose my belongings.  Plus, I love how the pretty blush pink goes with everything.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  What are some of your staple pieces that you swear by??

My law school had its annual Recognition Dinner this weekend at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Nashville. Here I am with my "law school besties" Ashley and Caroline, a/k/a #squad.  I wanted to feature these two lovely ladies because not only are they downright fabulous, they are also very successful attorneys and perfectly epitomize what my blog is all about- that professional women of all ages can be both successful and stylish!  I hope these two inspire you as much as they inspire me.

Happy Wednesday!  I found this pink sleeveless sheath dress on sale at Banana Republic not too long ago.  I instantly thought Jackie O. meets Carrie Bradshaw- two of my favorite style icons.  I love the classic pink with a modern twist!  Unfortunately, it is no longer available on the Banana Republic website, but I linked a similar darling pink sheath dress below that is a very pretty (and similar) alternative that would be perfect for work, or, when you want to be a little more dressed up.

May Reading

This post contains affiliate links.
J'Adore New York, Isabelle Lafleche
I absolutely LOVED this book- it is so amazing and relatable!!  J'Adore New York is a must-read for fashion-loving lady lawyers.  High-profile Parisian Attorney Catherine Lambert transfers from her big firm's Paris office to New York City, and all the nightmares and drama you hear about working in big law come true.. billable hours, conniving coworkers, monster bosses, etc.  I love Isabelle's incorporation of fashion and NYC life, as well as her use of French words and phrases scattered throughout the book- very clever and authentic!!

Isabelle has become a friend of mine and sent me a copy of this book along with its sequel, J'Adore Paris, to read.  Isabelle is a former Wall Street lawyer turned author and a total #girlboss.  Her career is absolutely fascinating, and it just goes to show that you can do creative (and fun!!) things with a law degree.  I read J'Adore New York on the beach in two days.  It is that good.  I cannot wait to read J'Adore Paris!

In the Company of Women, Grace Bonney

This book is an eclectic compilation of interviews from primarily creative entrepreneurs- chefs, artists, designers, etc.  I loved the short Q&A format, so that I could read as many or as few career profiles as I wanted in one sitting. It is especially great for moments when I found myself in a lull- I could read a brief interview, find the inspiration I needed, then get back to work.  This book would make a great gift for fellow #girlboss creatives as well as a coffee table book because it is full of beautiful imagery.

Outliers, Malcom Gladwell

In Outliers, Malcom Gladwell explores different factors that make people successful or unsuccessful. He provides many cases studies, including The Beatles, Bill Gates and other software geniuses, as well as explains why Asians are generally very good at math and how some of the early Jewish attorneys transformed the legal profession due to their exceptional work ethic.  A fascinating read!

Blink, Malcom Gladwell

Blink is a book about how we think without thinking, about choices that seem to be made instantaneously, in the blink of an eye- that may not be as simple as they seem.  He argues that effective decision makers aren't those who process the most information or spend the most time thinking, but those who have mastered the art of "thin-slicing", that is, filtering the very few factors that actually matter.  I highly recommend this book if you are in any sort of professional decision-making position- especially if you manage people.
*I plan on reading "The Tipping Point" in the near future as well!
