Good morning from Italy!  We are having a great time and having some amazing Italian food!  For today's post, I wanted to quickly share some of my favorite makeup staples.

1. Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW13- I have been using the Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation for years and love it!  It goes on so smoothly and I love that it has SPF.

2. It Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines Foundation- I love It Cosmetics and use quite a few of their products.  It Cosmetics sent this foundation to me to try and so far I really like it!

3. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Honey-  I love this Nars concealer for under my eyes.  This has to be one of the best under-eye concealers I have found to date.

4. Laura Mercier Translucent Powder- I started using this Laura Mercier Translucent Powder about a year ago and am hooked.  It is a bit pricey, but you definitely get your money's worth.  Your skin will look flawless and your makeup will stay put.  I highly recommend this powder!

5. L'oreal Voluminous Primer-  This primer is great for making your eyelashes look long and thick.  I like to use this at night, or, if I have a special event.

6. It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara- I have been using this It Cosmetics mascara for a little over a year and it is amazing.  I also love this mascara, but my eyes are watery and sometimes it runs.  It Mascara stays put, and I love that it is cruelty-free.

Some of My Favorite Career Podcasts

1. How I Built This- Guy Raz, NPR
This podcast features entrepreneurs, innovators and creators and the businesses and movements they built. Guy Raz is an awesome interviewer, and you learn so much from his interviews.  Some of my favorite interviews: Sara Blakely (founder of Spanx), Kevin System and Mike Krieger (founders of Instagram, and Kate Spade.

2. #GirlBoss Radio- Sophia Amoruso
On each episode, Nasty Gal founder and author of #Girlboss, Sophia Amoruso interviews fellow #girlbosses from all sorts of industries to extract solid career advice that they have learned along the way.  A few of my favorite interviews: Jen Hyman (founder of Rent the Runway), Emily Weiss (founder and CEO of Glossier), and Alli Webb (founder of Drybar).  I love this podcast!

3. StartUp-Alex Blumberg, Gimlet Media
This podcast is a series about what happens when an entrepreneur who has never started a business starts one and takes listeners along for the ride.  It is so fascinating how they document the process, especially meeting with venture capitalists.

4. The School of Greatness- Lewis Howes
In this podcast, Lewis Howes shares inspiring stories from some of the best business minds, world-class athletes and influencers to find out what makes them great.  Some of my favorite interviews: Tony Robbins, Scooter Braun (mega entertainment mogul), Elizabeth Gilbert (New York Times best-selling author- she wrote "Eat, Pray, Love") and Larry King.

5. Being Boss- Emily Thompson and Kathleen Shannon
On Being Boss, Emily Thompson and Kathleen Shannon share their expertise in branding and coaching online businesses to be more "boss" in work and life by focusing on boss mindsets, habits and routines.  They also have a lot of great interviews with boss ladies such as Brene Brown and Marie Forleo.

Kitty photo bomb.  I found this little guy at the Farmer's Market a few months ago and felt sorry for him because he was tiny (less than 2 pounds- he has grown so much!)..  I named him "Don" Vito Corleone, a/k/a Vito.  He looks just like The Godfather's cat!  The Godfather is one of my favorite movies!

August Reading

This post contains affiliate links.
The Woman I Wanted to Be- Diane von Furstenberg
In The Woman I Wanted to Be, DVF reflects on her remarkable life from being born to Holocaust survivors to building a global fashion brand, all the while becoming the woman she wanted to be.  This book is an easy (and fun) weekend read.  I was fascinated by all of her life experiences, especially when it came to traveling and all of the other business and licensing deals she was involved with.  If you like books on fashion startups, this book is for you.
The Thank You Economy- Gary Vaynerchuk
This is the third Gary Vee book I have read. If you listen to Gary Vee's podcast (which I highly recommend), you will like this book, along with his other books.  In The Thank You Economy, Gary Vee looks at the evolution of today's marketplace and shares how businesses can develop successful relationships with consumers and ultimately scale consumer attention using social media platforms.  This is a great book for business owners!

Kate White is a New York Times best-selling author and former editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine.  I had this book on my Goodreads queue for several months and finally got around to reading it in August.  I really enjoyed this book and liked the structure.  It is broken down into three sections on success- how to get it, how to go big with it, and how to savor it.  The three sections are broken down into smaller, easy to read subsections focusing on different career aspects, which I appreciated because I try to get some reading in during lunch, if possible.

Similar to I Shouldn't Be Telling You This, The New Rules of Work is a great career book for women new to or re-entering the workforce.  There are some great career tips, as well as cover letter and resume templates that would be great for recent graduates.

Good morning!  If you follow my blog, you know that I am a total bookworm!  I especially love reading books about career/personal development, entrepreneurship, start-ups, and successful people (especially women executives and entrepreneurs).   I love sharing my favorites, and hope that they inspire you as much as they inspire me.  I am always looking for new book recommendations, so feel free to drop any in the comment section below.
