Ormond Beach, Florida
Topshop Flute Sleeve Shift Tunic Dress
My family and I went to Ormond Beach for Memorial Day weekend.  One of the attorneys we share office space with has a penthouse they rent to friends and family for a major discount, so we always stay there.  It's about 15 minutes away from Daytona.  It is very peaceful and we usually have the entire beach to ourselves.  There are some amazing seafood restaurants.  Hull's is our favorite- they have the best crab cakes I've ever eaten!

Chicago

In August, I attended The Blog Societies' conference.  The conference was at the W Hotel in Chicago, and I was a keynote speaker.  You can read more about that here.  Vera Bradley hosted a fabulous welcoming party at the Sugar Factory.  I did have some time to explore when we weren't in sessions or at an event.  I ate at Eataly for the first time as well as Giordano's, one of my absolute favorite Chicago pizza places.

Europe: Italy, Austria and Vatican City
Venice, Italy
Venice was absolutely whimsical.  Feeling a bit like Madonna here!

Burano Island.  The most vibrant colors I've ever seen!  There are so many cute local shops and eateries in Burano.  I highly recommend visiting!

Austria is one giant postcard.  Everything is so clean and picture-esque.  We went to Innsbruck and Lech.  You can read more about our trip here.

Vatican City
Waiting on Pope Francis with my brother.
We went to Vatican City on a Sunday.  We went to the museum in Saint Peter's Basicalla, then got in line to hear Pope Francis' address.  There must have been 100,000 people in the square!  We managed to bypass thousands of people and make our way to the front.  Seeing Pope Francis was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and one that I will always cherish.  If you do visit, try to go on a Sunday when the museums are free and make sure the Pope will be there.

Here's to more travel in 2018!  One of my 2018 goals is to be more intentional with my time, especially my time off.  I am still getting used to all of these government holidays since transitioning from the private sector.  For example, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day right around the corner, or, President's Day in February.  My goal is to either go on a small overnight or weekend trip on these long holiday weekends, or, play tourist here in Nashville. There are so many cool things to see and do, and what better way to invest in your own personal growth and development than by traveling or stepping out of your comfort zone??

Thanks so much for stopping by!
